Looking Back’s theme for 2024 is Many Streams, celebrating our rich history. In 1975, large numbers of Vietnamese refugees arrived in the US at temporary resettlement centers. When California Governor Jerry Brown refused them permanent settlement status, Washington Governor Dan Evans asked staff member (later Secretary of State) Ralph Munro, pictured here, to go to Camp Pendleton and invite the refugees to settle in Washington State. They and their descendants continue to contribute to our vibrant community.
