Oystering was an important industry from Olympia’s earliest days. In this photograph, taken at Oyster Bay in the 1930s, a line of floats piled high with oysters waits out low tide. In the background we can see residential float houses lined up along the shore. Photograph selected and captioned by Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum.
