If you meet someone surnamed Livingston in Olympia, there’s a good chance they are children or grandchildren of Al and Anna Mae Livingston. Fourteen children in all were born to this family, and nine of them still live in our community. In this photo from 1962, Mr. and Mrs. Livingston are bringing home Bill, baby number 12. The event was of such importance that the Archbishop of Seattle performed Bill’s christening ceremony; the Thurston County Cowbelles presented the family with a case of meat; and the family received free passes to local events. Photograph selected and captioned by Deborah Ross on behalf of the Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum. Thank you to Denise Livingston for additional background.
