Throughout 2023 we’ll be exploring the origins of area place names. Pictured here in a charcoal portrait is early settler William McLane. He and his wife Martha McLeod McLane lent their name to a creek, school, fire district and grange. McLane served for six terms in the Washington Territorial Legislature.
