Greetings from the President,
Congratulations to member Roger Easton for all of his efforts during Olympia’s sesquicentennial year, including the event in May at the Archives which combined Olympia’s anniversary with Thurston County’s birthday. Roger made not one, but two well received presentations on the origins of Thurston County place names. Thanks to the members in attendance who volunteered to help out with our next event to be held August 22, at Priest Point Park. In 2005, the Olympia Historical Society participated in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the park with exhibits and informative talks on its history. This year’s event, again in collaboration with the city, will be an old-fashioned picnic in the park complete with music, games and again our informative exhibits and talks. A “meet and greet” session for OHS members will take place prior to the event. Watch upcoming bulletins for more information. See you there!
