Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum

Join us in exploring, preserving and promoting Olympia’s history. We are a non-profit membership-based organization presenting the stories from our past to enrich the present and inform the future of Olympia. The Bigelow House Museum, owned and operated by the Society and Museum, is the oldest residence in Olympia, Washington, and one of the earliest still standing in the Pacific Northwest.

On May 9, 2016, local historian Deb Ross aired a short video on the historic shoreline of Budd Inlet, and then demonstrated a remarkable new feature of the Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum’s website, called the Sanborn Overlay Project which virtually overlays historic maps of Olympia onto current aerial photographs.  The presentation was co-sponsored by the Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum and the South Puget Sound Environmental Education Clearinghouse (SPEECH), in conjunction with SPEECH’s annual meeting.
