Remembering the Great Depression: A History Gathering

When

Where The Olympia Historical Society is sponsoring a community gathering for the purpose of sharing information, stories, music and personal mementos of community life in 1930s era Olympia and Thurston County.

This purpose of the event is to honor the lives of those who experienced America’s Great Depression, to foster understanding of that era among the generations who’ve come along since, and to preserve materials of historical interest associated with this era in our history.

The program will be held in one of Millersylvania’s historic Civilian Conservation Corps-built shelters and includes presentations by local historians Lois Fenske, Lynne Erickson, and others.

The Olympia Historical Society will have staff on hand prepared to copy photos, ephemera, and items of historical interest, as well as receive donations of items that will become part of our collections.  All are welcome!

Guests are encouraged to bring friends, family, a picnic lunch, your love of history and spend the day!

Cost: Free!  (WA State Parks Day-Use Parking Fee, $5.00: Carpools encouraged.)
